Actress Hunter Schafer is on top of the world right now! From Euphoria to major Hollywood movies, Hunter is the hottest babe in Hollywood. She fits right in with Euphoria's other babelicious actresses like Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney. The only difference is that Hunter Schafer is a trans woman, but she says that she no longer wants to highlight that in her roles. He doesn't want to play only trans women - she wants to play all kinds of women.
Hunter is 25-years-old and feels that she has paid her dues when it comes to trans roles. She recently told GQ Magazine that she has been offered a lot of trans roles, but she doesn't want to be typecast. She wants to play all kinds of women!
"I don’t want to be [reduced to] that, and I find it ultimately demeaning to me and what I want to do. I worked so hard to get to where I am, past these really hard points in my transition, and now I just want to be a girl and finally move on.” That's fair! Hunter is definitely a woman and she deserves to expand her repertoire.
Other trans actresses such as Laverne Cox, Jari Jones, and Patti Harrison have said the same thing. Patti has said that she wants to do traditional romantic comedy roles where her trans identity isn't an essential part of the role. And that makes sense. Actresses like Patti and Hunter have definitely proven themselves - and they look good doing it.
Besides, Hollywood has a history of casting actors to play roles that don't directly correlate with their identity. How many women have played lesbians but are not out lesbians? And with that in mind: when are we getting lesbian romantic comedies?! Maybe it's time to turn the tables and let gay, lesbian, and trans actresses take on the straight leading lady roles.
Hunter added to GQ that she does have complicated feelings on the matter. “I know for a fact that I’m one of the most famous trans people in media right now, and I do feel a sense of responsibility, and maybe a little bit of guilt, for not being more of a spokesperson...But ultimately, I really do believe that not making it the centrepiece to what I’m doing will allow me to get further. And I think getting further and doing awesome shit, in the interest of ‘the movement,’ will be way more helpful than talking about it all the time.”
Actor Elliot Page has previously spoken out against that idea, saying that it is empowering for trans actors to play trans roles. I can see the argument on both sides. While I respect Elliot and think that he's very talented, I have to admit that I just want to see more Hunter!
I would LOVE to see Hunter in all kinds of roles. We know that she is a daring actress who will go nude and look good doing it. I support anything that leads to seeing Hunter's hooters and exquisite beauty.
