The Irregulars (2021)

No Nudity

Review

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's most beloved creation gets taken for a walk in The Irregulars, a YA twist on the Sherlock Holmes mythos. The UK series, which debuted on Netflix in the spring of 2021, presupposes that it was a group of street smart young homeless teens whom actually did the detective work for Holmes (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) and his faithful companion Watson (Royce Pierreson). While they were out in front while taking credit for the brilliant crime solving, Holmes & Watson were simultaneously working in the shadows to bankroll these much smarter teens like Bea (Thaddea Graham), Jessie (Darci Shaw), Spike (McKell David), Billy (Jojo Mercari), and Leopold (Harrison Osterfeld). The show doesn't go full steampunk, like one might expect, but that's pretty much the only line they seem to not want to cross in their bending and twisting and reshaping of the Holmes story where he can be cast as a villain rather than an anti-hero. The teens, of course, get up to all manner of sexy shenanigans, as teens are wont to do in such YA-centric takes on classic stories, but it's all corseted up unfortunately. There's nothing here to really get the old juices flowing outside of some absolutely bonkers cleavage from Suzie Chard! In the show's debut episode, she appears as a lady of the evening, working the Victorian street corner so to speak. We get a pair of glimpses at the wonder contained within her corset as she shows off cleavage that simply can't be contained by even the largest undergarment of days gone by could contain! It's highly Irregular that we don't get to see much more than that!
