The High Note (2020)

Legendary singer Grace Davis (Tracee Ellis Ross) hasn't recorded an album in decades, but that doesn't stop her from keeping up a non-stop touring schedule in the film The High Note (2020)! Grace's long suffering assistant Maggie (Dakota Johnson) has learned a few tricks of the trade from her years with Grace, but secretly yearns to be a songwriter, holding out hope that one day, her temperamental boss might want to record something new. Grace's boss Zack (Ice Cube) thinks that Grace needs to stop touring so much and accept a residency in Las Vegas, helping to ground her in one place, but Grace has an almost preternatural urge to continue touring and to continue tormenting her assistant. Maggie has a chance encounter with an up and coming singer named David (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.) and not only is the chemistry between them palpable, it turns out that he likes and appreciates her songwriting skills. With her life and career at a crossroads, Maggie must now decide if it's worth sticking by Grace despite her years of neglect, or if she should finally branch out on her own and take destiny into her own hands. This PG-13 crowd pleaser aimed at moms everywhere is hardly the best place to find any skin, though there's plenty of sexiness from both Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross to go around as they show off in their underwear and in bikinis! There's also some supporting sexiness from funny lady June Diane Raphael, but if you're really looking to hit The High Note, it'd be best to look elsewhere!
