Review

The Five Senses (1999) is a comedy, a drama, a musical and, most importantly, an opportunity to see an actress naked. Never forget that. Never forget. The British-produced movie is a series of interconnected stories that examine situations involving the five senses, which is probably where they got the title. There’s touch, when a message therapist treats a woman, while her daughter accidentally loses the woman’s preschool daughter in the park, and the older daughter meets a voyeur (vision, get it?), and a professional house-cleaner has an acute sense of smell, and then there’s a cake maker who has lost her senses of taste. To round this out, an older man loses his hearing. The one sense they don’t mention, but is acutely tickled, is our sense of arousal. That comes with Mary-Louise Parker, topless in a sex scene, with is the sex sense.
