The Drew Carey Show (1995-2004)

The Drew Carey Show is a sitcom that works for us on so many levels. First, it’s premise that working environments are soulless and dead-ends speaks truth. Secondly, it takes play in Cleveland, American’s rock and roll capital city. Drew Carey is a funny man because he’s fat, and all fat people are funny. Maybe he’s still funny now that he’s slimmed down, but the show isn’t running any more, and that speaks volumes. And just like all American sitcoms, the fat everyman must be balanced by the hot exceptional woman, here played by Christa Miller. Sexy, yes, but skinful now, because we still live in the censorious days of network TV.
