Review

The Barber (2014) is a low budget thriller set in Chicago in the late 90s and follows police detective Thomas McCormack (Thomas Calabro) as he finally gets a break in a serial killer case with the arrest of suspect Eugene (Scott Glenn). But it seems as though McCormack doesn’t have any credible evidence to hold him, Eugene is released, and the disappointed detective kills himself in despair over his inability to solve the case. Bummer. Fast-forward twenty-years later, and the deceased cop’s son John (Chris Coy) picks up where his dear ol’ dad left off and tries to solve the cold case. After John tracks down Eugene in a small town where he works as a barber, hence the title, he tells him that he’s an aspiring serial killer who’s studied all of Eugene’s crimes and wants to become his apprentice of sorts. Serial killers usually work alone, brah. The two begin spending some time together, leading Eugene to start fessing up to the crimes. The film brings the thrills but it’s painfully short on nudity. Kristen Hager serves up some cleavage, and Olivia Taylor Dudley fills out a tight red dress with her sexiness. These chicks will turn you into a semen killer!
