In 1966, NBC first aired Gene Roddenberry's sci-fi take on the stories from old Westerns like Wagon Train that he called, Star Trek. Nobody could imagine it would become a cultural phenomenon without parallel that would not only still have film and TV spinoffs over half a century later, but would essentially create the idea of cult fandoms and fan conventions. Given that cultural cache, you might be shocked to know the original series only lasted three seasons before getting the boot! The original Star Trek took place in 2266, when earth has joined the United Federation of Planets. The show follows the USS Enterprise, led by their Captain James Tiberius Kirk (William Shatner), as they complete a five year journey to discover new planets and reach out as diplomats of The Federation. Joining him are the hyper logical half-Vulcan Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Dr. Bones McCoy (DeForest Kelley), engineer Scotty Montgomery (James Dohan), the comely comms officer Nyota Ujura (Nichelle Nichols), and the ship's helmsman Hikaru Sulu (George Takei), as well as a neverending lineup of redshirt wearing cannon fodder. "Beam me up, Scotty," 'Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor not a.." "live long and prosper," "where no man has gone before," we could spend all day talking about the show's famous phrases that entered the cultural lexicon. But besides introducing viewers to the crew of the USS Enterprise, whose mission was to seek out new life and new civilizations (but never to interfere), the show also introduced some succulent ’60s space sirens who subsequently showed skin on the silver screen. There's a great look at the gorgeous in green makeup former ballerina Yvonne Craig, who also played Batgirl on the 1960s Batman show, looking very attractive while bouncing around in a leotard. We couldn't keep our hands of our phasers once she kicked off our sexy alien phase! Leslie Parrish prances around in a pink dress that the god Apollo gifted her. But the hottest woman on the show was obviously Nichelle Nichols. At a time when her interracial kiss with Shatner was incredibly risqué, TV watchers in the South were turning against segregation with every round of masturbation to that thick, busty black woman. At one point she's sweaty in a sports bra, and we refuse to believe there's a better pair of tits on any of the planets! Screw the prime directive, allow us to direct your attention to the swinging sixties hotties in Star Trek!
