Staff Picks: 70s Sci-Fi

Our Staff Picks column takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version of Staff Picks has a decidedly skintillating angle, as we suss out which films from a particular subgenre are the best to find great nudity. This week let's cover one of the best kinds of films to watch during the summer: 70s Sci-Fi.

The 70s were a hot time for science fiction. I personally think sci-fi movies in this decade stand out because they are all still gorgeously filmed, with many of them using technicolor or some form of it, and they come off of the heals of the 60s which were obviously a great time of change.

That means these films tend to be incredibly creative. From dystopian realities to aliens and more, these films took us out of this world with their plots, imagery, and hot actresses.

Logan's Run

Logan's Run is an absolute classic. This Oscar-nominated film tells the story of a seemingly ideal society in which humans live in gorgeous, domed city-states where nearly everything is taken care of for them. They live out happy lives...until the age of 30. When people turn 30, they are put to death! Logan tries to hunt down people who run and winds up hunting down runaways.

There are hot young women in this movie who take off their clothes. Jenny Agutter slips off a see-thru green dress to show her breasts.

The Omega Man

Charlton Heston was a very busy man in the 70s, so it might be easy to forget his 1971 film The Omega Man which was an adaptation of I Am Legend. He is the last man on Earth...or so he thinks. He eventually learns that there are other survivors like him, namely the beautiful Rosalind Cash.

Now he has a new playmate to spend his days with! Of course, there is a tragic ending in this film, but don't worry about that right now. Focus instead on Rosalind's rack.

A Clockwork Orange

For a more horrific sci-fi film, check out the Stanley Kubrick classic A Clockwork Orange. This movie about a group of morally debased teens in the not-so-distant future who run amock and commit horrible acts of violence has a lot of nudity in it. While some of the nude scenes are super hard to stomach, others are actually quite hot.

Leave it to actresses Virginia Wetherell and Katya Wyeth to give us some sexual relief from these Cockney maniacs.

Zardoz

Is Zardoz a "good" movie? No, not by any criteria. Is it entertaining and hot? Yes, absolutely. This is a wild and legendary so-bad-it's-good movie that gives us all of the juiciest science fiction tropes.

It's also something of a nightmare for men as it takes place in a society that believes "the penis is evil". There is a super complex form of government in which everyone worships Lord Zardoz, a flying stone head that visits Earth to make sure everyone remembers that the penis is evil. As I said, this is basically a male nightmare movie.

There is a group of leaders with gorgeous women called The Eternals. Sean Connery, our star, flees to find them and is captured by Sara Kestelman for research. Charlotte Rampling and Sally Anne Newton star along with Sara as futuristic women who show off their pink perky nipples.

The Man Who Fell to Earth

This trippy film starring David Bowie was directed by Nicolas Roeg and tells the story of an alien (Bowie) who lands in the United States. He has to bring water back for his home planet, but he winds up getting distracted by human green and a lot of beautiful babes. Linda Hutton and Adrienne Larussa both show off their exquisite forms

Candy Clark really steals the show as Mary-Lou, a kind human girl who has the hots for the alien. She comes on to him really strongly and it does work because the pair wind up having some pretty kinky sex. Word on the street is that it was REAL sex, but I'm inclined to believe that this was just some super well-simulated sex.

Alien

The pivotal 70s sci-fi film was definitely Ridley Scott's Alien which starred a young, tough, and beautiful Sigourney Weaver. Alien is still one of the most iconic horror/sci-fi films ever made. Who could forget the imagery of the dripping, scary alien? I never can, I'll you that!

Another thing I can't forget is how sexy Sigourney looks in her white tank top in this film. Her pokies are reaching out and saying hello through that bra-less shirt.
