One of the sexiest horror flicks of this year has already gotten a prequel! Ti West and A24, who brought usX, the slasher thriller set in 1979 during the shooting of an amateur porno, have unleashed the trailer for Pearl, written by West and X star Mia Goth.
Set in 1918, Pearl is the backstory of X’s murderous octogenarian (who was played by Goth in prosthetics and old age makeup). According to Deadline,
it finds the character tending to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother, while trapped on her family’s isolated farm. Lusting for a glamorous life like she’s seen in the movies, Pearl’s ambitions, temptations, and repressions all collide, in the film also starring David Corenswet, Tandi Wright, Matthew Sunderland and Emma Jenkins-Purro.
X’s skin flick setting made it the perfect vessel for some of the year’s best nude scenes, and while the Pearl trailer focuses more on the character’s violent tendencies, there are glimpses of the steamier things Pearl might do for the fame she desires.
