Review

Cameron Diaz is doing pretty well for herself in Head Above Water (1997), despite being a recovering junkie with an old boyfriend who’s mysteriously dead in the bedroom. For one thing, her new husband Harvey Keitel is the judge who got her off the hook on a recent bust. She’s also at her family’s secluded lake house, which makes it easy to tote around the dead body that she’s determined to hide. Specifically, it makes it easy to tote around the dead body in bold daylight, which allows Diaz to show off her magnificent bod as she struggles to make sense of her wild weekend--particularly, her husband’s enthusiasm for helping her cover up the supposedly accidental death. That’s actually two reasons why the scantily clad Diaz makes this dark comedy worth watching.
