Brooklyn native Didi Conn brought a ton of spunky energy to nearly every film and television show she appeared in, making a name for herself by carving out her own unique niche. She first made a name for herself with one off appearances on such hit shows as Happy Days and The Rookies in 1975, before spending the 1976-77 season as one of the main cast members on the show The Practice! She landed her first leading film role the same year that show ended, playing an aspiring songwriter in You Light Up My Life (1977), which earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The following year brought us Didi's most iconic role as Frenchie in Grease (1978), with Didi becoming so synonymous with the role that she was one of the only cast members to return for Grease 2 (1981). The original Grease is also the place she came closest to going nude, spreading her legs wide at the end of the "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee" number, and though the PG-rated film wasn't going to have a full on shot of her lady business, it's still pretty sexy for 1978! Didi would eventually go on to land a leading role on the hit series Benson in the early 80s, followed by another leading role on the PBS series Shining Time Station—the American equivalent of Thomas the Tank Engine—in the late 80s and early 90s. Didi continues working to this very day and it's always exciting to see her bubbly burst of energy pop up in something unexpected! It's just a damn shame she never went nude.
