Very few films about middle aged men going through a midlife crisis become both blockbuster box office hits and win an Oscar, but City Slickers (1991) managed to do both. Unfortunately for the creative team behind the film, in order for them to make a sequel, they were going to have to figure out a way to bring Oscar winner Jack Palance's character of Curly back because his character died in the second act of the first film. While not as inspired as its predecessor, City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold (1994) manages to do something new by taking the characters from the first film and putting them on a new adventure. Some of them anyway. Billy Crystal and Daniel Stern are back as New York City-based friends who go on a wild goose chase in the western United States looking for, you guessed it, Curly's gold. Also along for the ride this time is Jon Lovitz, replacing Bruno Kirby, and they brought Palance back to play Curly's long lost twin brother Duke Washburn. These are fun films and certainly have their charms, but they're mostly family friendly endeavors featuring the mostly asexual adventures of three guys pushing 50. Before Crystal's character sets off on the film's adventure, though, he talks to on-screen wife Patricia Wettig of Thirtysomething fame, who sports a sexy black nightie that's a little bit see-through around her breasts, but not so much that you can catch a hint of nip or anything! Don't be surprised if one look at Patricia in this sexy get-up has you Wettig yourself!
