Ama Qamata only plays a high-school teenager, but she’s actually in her early twenties, so it’s okay to have a little bit of a lust-crush on her. The star was born in Cala, a small town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, but moved to and was raised in Johannesburg from a very young age. She studied at the University of Cape Town, and when it came to auditioning for the role of Puleng Khumalo for Netflix’s hit series Blood & Water, the starlet had no fear and sent in a tape she did herself. It worked, she got the part, and a star was born, with Ama playing the part in 2020-2021. While she had appeared in a few projects in her own country, Bloodis the first international production, giving all of us a chance to bask in her beauty. Full name Amamkele Lithemba Qamata, she officially started her career at the age of 16 in a commercial for Cheese Curls. The director of that commercial cast her in another one, this time for McDonald’s. At 17, she got a part on the South African TV show My Perfect Family, then one as Buhle Ndaba in the series Gomora in 2020. The producer and director of that show was also the casting director for Blood & Water, and was the one who initially encouraged her to audition. Ama stars in both series, doing double acting duties. Luckily, both shoot in South Africa, so she doesn’t have to travel. And luckily, she’s a total cutie in her little bikinis in the Netflix series!
