12 Miles of Bad Road

Texas matriarchs struggle to keep their nouveau riche relatives in line on HBO's short-lived satirical series 12 Miles of Bad Road (2007-2008). Amelia (Lily Tomlin) and her sister C.Z Shakespeare (Mary Kay Place) are self-made moguls who manage a multimillion-dollar real estate empire comprised mostly of suburban McMansions. And the real estate market may be in free fall, but compared to Amelia's spoiled daughter Janet (Katherine LaNasa), pious son Jerry (Gary Cole), and rebellious daughter Gaylor (Eliza Coupe), collateralized debt obligations are a cinch. It's too bad that HBO canceled 12 Miles of Bad Road after one season, because from where Mr. Skin is sitting, Eliza's bare backside is more like 12 miles of heavenly highway.
